Brief introduction of PD-MDCNC Bio-bank

A biological specimen bank, also known as a biological bank, is a comprehensive resource for the integration of biospecimens, biomolecular information, and sample phenotype data. It is a valuable resource for basic and clinical research. It plays an important role in the prediction, diagnosis, treatment, and research of diseases. The greatest contribution of biological banks is in helping scientists to carry out medical research and promoting human health

The PD-MDCNC Bio-Bank is a multicenter, standardized, co-built organization. It is a shared clinical/biological specimen bank for Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, providing resources for medical research. Over 37,928 DNA specimens, 300 peripheral blood lymphocytes, 2,764 serum specimens, 9,607 plasma specimens, 431 cerebrospinal fluid specimens, and 100 skin fibroblast specimens are presently stored in the PD-MDCNC Bio-bank. A standard workflow system and technical platforms have been established for i.a., collection, processing, storage, monitoring, application, and unified management of specimens. A biospecimen database sharing platform has also been established.
